#SlowSunday Reflections: Watching few kids learning to skate made me reflect—especially noticing how much time they spend falling and getting back up. Skating isn’t just about the thrill of gliding; it’s about learning to hit the ground without getting hurt. It takes a lot of practice to understand how to fall safely before they’re confident enough to truly enjoy the ride.
Leadership isn’t so different. We can’t expect people to take brave leaps and risk failure without some preparation for the tough landings. Just like in skating, in leadership, we need to build the resilience to handle falls gracefully.
Preparing for setbacks gives us the courage to take bigger steps. When we truly own our journey—including the slips and the stumbles—we get to decide how the story unfolds. But if we let our challenges define us without embracing them, they end up writing our story for us.
This #SlowSunday, let’s reflect on the value of every stumble and fall. They’re not just obstacles; they’re the groundwork for every courageous step we take forward.
